When I first began practicing law in 1990, the only type of work I did was insurance defense. That means I worked for the insurance companies! That means that if you would have made a claim at that time and filed a lawsuit the insurance company would’ve hired me to see to it that you got little or nothing for your claim. I worked for the insurance companies for approximately ten years. Since that time all I have been doing is representing individuals who were injured by the negligence of others. I can help you avoid the problems that can make it difficult to resolve your case. I can evaluate every case when it comes in the office from both the perspective of the insurance company and from the perspective of you, MY CLIENT. I know how they will come at us to try and pay you as little as possible. I also know how to deal with these attacks and maximize your recovery.

The period after a personal injury incident can be a whirlwind of activity for the victim facing the unfortunate event. There are many decisions to be made, and not much time in which to make them as matters usually need to be decided urgently. Additionally, when there are injuries, the victim may be distracted or unable to do everything they need to do in order to make sure that they get a claim filed in time to assure that the negligent party will indeed take care of their end of the responsibilities. One of the decisions a victim will need to make is whether or not to hire a personal injury lawyer to assist them in their fight for justice. One of the most important decisions the victim will make is which lawyer to hire!

In the period immediately following a personal injury incident, my goal is to gather facts and make determinations based on those facts. You and I (not a call center with operators) will have a conversation during which I will ask a number of questions. The answers to those questions will help me determine the following:

  • Does the victim have any fault at all in the accident and, if so, how much?
  • Who exactly bears the true responsibility for the accident?
  • Will the claim, if pursued, stand up in a court of law for the victim?
  • What damages were done to the victim, and what damages can be expected to follow?

Once I have a good grasp of the circumstances surrounding the case, I can determine whether or not it is in your best interest to pursue it. I will then advise you of your various options for legal action and allow you to make your decision on how best to proceed. Once I have the information needed, I can file a claim on your behalf against the negligent party.

I am also aware of all the deadlines and requirements that must be met to pursue your claim. I have the staff and resources to be able to do so in a timely manner, whereas you still may still be in treatment, or unaware of the time sensitivity. There are often statutes of limitations that limit the amount of time you have to file your claim. I worry about all thing things so you don’t have too and instead can focus on your recovery.

Be certain that the insurance agency and their agents aim to pay as little of a settlement as possible. Furthermore, they will often try to shift some of the blame for the injuries to YOU! I am experienced in dealing with the insurance companies and their lawyers and I know how to get the best result possible, whether that is by way of settlement or litigating your case. Negotiations with the insurance company and their agents can be complicated, and I will do everything I can to make sure the process goes smoothly and is fair to you.

Once there is an agreement on a settlement or a judgment, I can do the leg-work to receive the settlement, make payments as necessary, retain my fee, and then pay you your portion of the settlement or Judgment.
